What a vapor insert does: water vapor fireplace inserts

The insert is the built-in form of the water vapor family: a linear unit that turns water into a rising vapour flame, lit by LEDs, inside a piece of furniture or a constructed surround. From the room, the effect is a long flame with real depth, moving like a fire and cool to the touch. Under the flame sits the working unit: a water tank, the vapour mechanism and the lights, all serviced from the front or the top depending on the installation.

Inserts are the form chosen for media walls, hotel-style feature furniture, restaurant banquettes and long low cabinets. The flame length is the design variable: inserts are published in a run of lengths, and the length is chosen against the furniture it sits in, not against the room as a whole.

Lengths, tanks and the build-in

Published insert variants differ by length and by tank size, and the two are linked: a longer flame runs a larger tank. The tank decides how long the effect runs between refills, so a venue that runs the flame all evening sorts its choice by tank as much as by length. Neither figure should be assumed from a listing photograph; both are confirmed in the inquiry, per item, against the furniture dimensions.

The build-in itself needs a cavity, a power supply and access to the tank for refilling. A media wall designed around the insert should carry those three in its drawings from the start. Where the furniture already exists, state its internal width and depth in the inquiry and the insert is matched to the cavity rather than the other way round.

Tank and size confirmation

Vapor insert confirmation points
PointWhat to confirm
Insert lengthThe flame length, against the furniture it sits in
Tank sizeThe tank capacity class, for the running hours needed
ControlRemote, WiFi or app; smart-home platform where one applies
Heater optionFlame effect only, or a model with a heater
AccessHow the tank will be reached for refilling

The table is the confirmation set for an insert order. Length and tank come first because they fix the unit; control, heater and access fix its configuration and its installation. A list that repeats one insert across many rooms should carry one line per length, with quantities, rather than one line per room.

Vapor inserts beside ethanol inserts

A vapor insert and an ethanol insert can occupy the same kind of furniture and give opposite flames: one an effect that never burns, the other a real flame that does. Projects sometimes place both — vapour where the public sits close, ethanol where a real fire is the point. The two are never interchangeable in a list, and the family should be marked on every line so the confirmation follows the right checklist.

Refilling is the vapor insert's one recurring task, and it deserves a thought at the ordering stage rather than the first evening. The tank is reached through the access the installation provides; a run of inserts in a venue is refilled as a round, on the venue's rhythm; a residence's insert is refilled as casually as a kettle. The task is small in both cases, but the access decision that makes it small is taken when the furniture is drawn — which is why access appears in the confirmation table above alongside the product's own dimensions.
