Ethanol fireplace inserts
Ethanol Fireplace Inserts
An ethanol fireplace insert is a self-contained bioethanol unit built into a prepared opening. The insert range carries the smart line's remote-control models and slim built-in models at customised widths.

What an insert does: ethanol fireplace inserts
An insert packages the whole fireplace — burner, fuel handling, guard and controls — into one unit that is built into a wall, a cabinet or a purpose-made surround. The room sees a finished flame opening; the working parts stay inside the unit. That makes the insert the default choice when a project wants a real flame without building a firebox from parts.
Inserts divide by control. Smart inserts light and adjust by remote control and app, with smart-home links on the smart line. Simpler inserts are lit and adjusted by hand. The opening does not care which type is chosen, but the wiring and the daily routine do, so the control type is settled at the inquiry stage, beside each item.
Insert forms
| Form | Control | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Smart inserts | Remote and app | Graduated sizes, glass guard |
| Slim built-in inserts | Semi-automatic | Customised widths for shallow walls |
| Linear inserts | Remote, on smart models | Long flame rows for wide openings |
| Burner inserts | Manual or automatic | The burner as a unit, for custom surrounds |
A surround built around a burner insert gives the most design freedom and asks the most of the builder; a complete insert gives the least freedom and the simplest installation. Most projects sit at the complete-insert end; the component route is specified in detail with the burner inserts in the burner family.
Sizing the opening for an insert
The opening is measured before the insert is chosen, not after: width, height and depth, plus the material the opening is built from. Slim models exist for shallow construction, and customised widths exist for openings that fall between standard sizes. Put the opening measurements in the inquiry beside the item, and the sizing question is answered once, in writing, before the order is placed.
Where several openings repeat — a hotel floor, a row of apartments — group the list by opening size. One line per size, with the quantity beside it, replaces one line per room and removes the chance of a transcription error between identical entries.
Inserts beside burners
Buyers sometimes hold both routes open in one list: complete inserts for standard rooms, burners for a bespoke feature. Keep the two groups visibly separate in the inquiry, because their confirmation points differ — openings and control for the inserts, surround construction and fuel handling for the burners.
